Well, I made it through the day but was definitely dragging by the end. Mary (a volunteer who I'll be working with who's here the same times as me) and I enjoyed a trip to the supermarket where we tried to learn some more vocab. Eventually we wound up at Tim and Gloria's house which is where we're staying when we're not doing projects away from Tegucigalpa. Their house it quite nice and we each have one of their daughters bedrooms and share a bathroom with just the two of us. They have three big dogs, one mature parrot and one baby parrot who is just funny looking. They're a bit out of the city so they have some woods. They also have some bunnies, cows, and chickens some of which are theirs and some are Heifer Project's. Gloria's dad also lives there and is pretty funny. He's 92 and sprightly but quirky.
It sounds like a group is coming in on Thursday at which point we will be leaving to do a 10 day building project. Apparently we will be staying in a hotel so this is pretty classy. Also, they'll be adults. In short, should be pretty unstressful (of course that statement is just begging for something to happen, sigh). Right now, we're just hanging out at the office, not too much to do. Today we'll be visiting the boy's home. I wish we could explore but suspect somehow that traipsing about the city by ourselves isn't the best idea in the world. Oh well, soon enough we'll be out getting dirty. My favorite! In the meantime I'm trying to read things and eavesdrop on conversations to see how much I can understand.
The time here is two hours different. Not quite sure why... maybe daylight savings time too? I always get that confused.
